Planning advice
The Victorian Curriculum F–10 is the basis for teaching, learning and assessment in Victorian government and Catholic schools. Independent schools may choose to use the Victorian Curriculum as an approved alternative to the Australian Curriculum Version 9.0.
Planning for teaching, learning and assessment starts with the Victorian Curriculum F–10. The curriculum describes the learning entitlement for all students – that is, the core set of knowledge and skills that is required both for lifelong learning and active and informed citizenship. The knowledge and skills are addressed through the curriculum areas that must be taught, assessed and reported on across the 3 broad stages of schooling:
- Foundation stage (Prep to Year 2)
- Breadth stage (Years 3–8)
- Pathways stage (Years 9–10)
